This new, private home for rent by owner is located along a quiet lane on a cul de sac in the lush and peaceful Volcano Golf and Country Club area.

Only a 5 minutes walk from the clubhouse along fairways frequented by the endangered and protected Hawaiian Nene and a 5 minutes drive to the entrance to Hawaii Volcanoes National Park, local shops, restaurants and nearby attractions, guests will find it fun and easy to get around on foot, by bicycle or by car.

Volcano Cottage is a bit like an island at 4000 feet elevation. Rain provides the water; we filter it, use it carefully and return it to the land.

Electricity, however, along with cable TV, Hawaii Public Radio and Television, and high speed Road Runner Internet are wired in from the outside world. Both the livingroom's large screen and master bedroom's televisions are hooked up to cable with 75 channels. We hope you enjoy our selection of DVD’s. More are available from Joan Earley’s collection at the Country Goose. Guests who enjoy NPR will find it on both Television channels 52 and 53. Volcano's private vacation rental by owner features a fully equipped kitchen with dishes, utensils, glassware, and a complete set of pots, pans and bakeware. Guests will find Volcano Cottage to include other handy gadgets like a waffle iron, toaster, rice cooker, teapots and microwave.

The Hawaiian rental by owner also includes a complete set of knives and steak knives, cutting boards, cheese grater, and vegetable peeler. Owners have thoughtfully provided two coffee makers, a coffee grinder, decaf or one of our famous flavored Kona coffees, along with world famous 100% Koa Plantation Kona coffee. The Senso Philips European–style, coffee maker is perfect for a single cup and will brew up a cup of tea as well as coffee. Guests will find a special tea bag holder in the drawer to the right of the sink.

The house is on a rainwater catchment water system and all water coming into the house goes through a state-of the art UV (ultra violet) water treatment system for water purification for excellent water. . Water is deliciously pure and safe for drinking from any faucet. Owners ask visitors to carefully conserve water by such means as using a drain stopper while washing and by using water intermittently when showering.

Bird lovers are in for a special treat. There are many species of rare, Hawaiian birds in the volcano area forests. Guests enjoying a morning walk may find Nene geese walking around the golf course across from the club house, or hear them flying overhead. Four cardinals have been fed in the back yard and will appreciate visitors dropping a handful of wild birdseed on the ground. Watch for “Bandit”, the biggest, plumpest cardinal often heard chirping for food in the back yard or at the back door. Guests can find their stash of seed in the hall closet in a plastic container.

In typical Hawaiian style, Volcano Cottage's full sized washer and dryer are on the porch – and an iron and ironing board are stored the closet.

The rental is stocked with plenty of towels. Please do not leave wet or damp towels lying around as they can mildew. Just throw them in the dryer for a few minutes. Volcano Cottage has provided beach towels in the closet and owners ask that you take those for outside activities.

There are blankets and comforters included but guests find the house is very solidly built and stays warm. In the winter we keep down comforters on the new, top-of-the-line, pillow-topped beds so visitors can be toasty and there are extra blankets in the closets.
