My passion is helping individuals and couples learn, accept, live, and work according to their personal strengths. I believe to be truly emotionally healthy one must know, understand, and accept themselves and live a life of self truth. Every individual I see is accepted as they are and encouraged to develop and change based on their own goals and dreams. I have an earned Ph.D. from Colorado State University in Educational Counseling with a dual emphasis in Marriage & Family Therapy and Women's Issues. I have been in private practice since 1991. Seventeen years of my adult life were spent as a full-time wife and mother, followed by fifteen years of teaching and counseling that ranged from preschool to master level university students. My experience includes Residential Treatment for adolescents, Critical Incident Stress Management, EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing), Impact Therapy, Mediation, Career Counseling, and Myers Briggs personality inventory. The Myers Briggs is given to most of my clients because it helps them to understand how they prefer to live, how they bring in information, how they make decisions, and how they relate to others. It helps them accept themselves and others. "Understand and accept yourself and you will be able to understand and accept those you love, care about, and work with." It is especially valuable for couples and families. I am also available for training business teams in maximizing their work force. I love my work and hope to be helping people become healthy and happy for many years. My purpose, supporting my profession and my life . . . |

In February of 2003, Dr. Jennifer Goble was pleased to announce the addition of a new counselor to the Old Library Counseling Center. Marta Wells, a board certified Licensed Professional Counselor, received her Bachelor of Science degree from Southwestern Adventist University and her Master of Art degree in psychology from Regis University. In both degrees, she had an emphasis in Christian counseling. Her recent experience as been working at Centennial Mental Health and her private office, Newstart Therapy, in Akron. Marta loves working with children and adolescents. Her past experience as Director of Assets for Youth for Northeastern Colorado has helped her utilize a positive approach to counseling that is strength based. She continues to take specialized training in art and play therapy for children. She has a passion to help individuals, no matter what age, discover their inner strength and creativity. Marta also specializes in trauma and abuse issues. She is a member of the Northeast Colorado Critical Incident Team. Wells has taken EMDR (eye-movement desensitization and reprocessing) training, which is a specialized certification to process past trauma. She has also had contract work with the High Plains Sexual Assault Center. Because Marta has had training in health and wellness issues, she incorporates a philosophy of holistic balance. She believes it is important to address one’s physical, emotional, mental and spiritual aspects. This integration helps in the healing process. You can make an appointment with Marta by calling 970-768-5426. |
