Sterling, Colorado Andrew Carnegie Library Each of the three elegantly appointed bedrooms and each comfortable bedroom is named after one of the former librarians. Old Library Inn offers alternative Sterling Colorado lodging. Andrew Carnegie donated $12,500 to build the Sterling Library in 1916. Logan County's Sterling Library opened in 1918 and remained open until the library was moved to a new building in 1976. The primary group that held fund raisers to purchase the lot for $4000 was the Zeta Zeta Club. Other clubs helped too, like the Women's Temperance Union. According to the Union's notes, they also went to the men in the community to raise funds. The total cost of the building, lot, fixtures, and books was $20,000 |
