Ski Mammoth

"Mammoth Mountain is traditionally among the first ski areas to open and sometimes operates as late as the Fourth of July. Emphasizing its unrestrained feel, Mammoth receives over 400 inches of snow annually with an average of 300 sunny days a year. The mountain is surrounded by the protected backdrop of Mt. Whitney and Yosemite National Park. Amongst this natural beauty, the town meets the mountain to create a distinctive and welcoming area for visitors and locals alike. There are 3,500 skiable acres to play on with a vertical drop of 3,100 feet and 150 named trails. There are 29 lifts in place, including two gondolas and two high-speed six-packs."---Onthesnow.com

Mammoth Paved Bike Path

Mammoth Lakes Paved Bike Path

This vacation condo rental is near the Mammoth Lakes paved bike path. " The paved path (it’s for walkers too) offers two options. Those fit enough can start in town and ride or walk up; you can ride all the way to Horseshoe Lake. Not really interested in torching your thighs and gasping for air for miles? Then put your bike on the free tram in town, ride up to Horseshoe -- or stops in between -- and cycle back. Or just drive up, park at one of the lakes and ride through the forest for a mile or so. It’s cool, scenic and safe -- no cars to dodge. For example, from Lake George you can take the half-mile trail to Barrett and then TJ lakes. Even if the campground at Lake George is packed, a 20-minute hike will take you a world away. Sharp granite walls line the smooth, reflecting lake, and there are wide swaths of snow in the mountains above. If you’re up for a little more, try the slightly longer Sky Meadows trail. It originates in Coldwater Campground, near Lake Mary." ---Excerpt from LA Times Article

Mammoth Lakes Things to Do:

In our biased opinion, Mammoth Lakes and the Eastern Sierra are paradise. We love the outdoors with its summertime brilliance and its wintry, snow-glistening glory. There are so many things to do from hiking into the backcountry and swimiming in refreshing mountain lakes to horseback riding shady pine trails to fishing trout in the Owens River. In the winter there is X-country skiing silent trails, or downhill skiing and snowboarding at Mammoth Mountain, or snowmobiling through deep snow, plowing across the tracks, these are experiences you'll never forget.

Hike, Swim and Fish High Sierra Lakes

"The Eastern Sierra region of California is at once little known and widely loved. Geographically separated from populated California, two main influences create a distinctly wild and scenic character. The largest towns of Inyo and Mono County are Bishop, Mammoth Lakes, Independence and Bridgeport. Small by conventional standards, yet rich culturally and inspirationally, each town has its own personality and personalities. "---EasternSierra.us
