Up the hill just a pebble's throw from River Fowey, in the charming village setting of Golant, visitors will find this award winning luxury vacation rental known as The Sunday House. Listed as a Grade II self-catering holiday home, The Sunday House is a renovated Victorian Methodist Chapel originally built in 1896.

Guests are greeted by the housekeeper with a welcome pack of local produce, including Cornish cream tea.
Each room is a welcoming sanctuary of sumptuous comfort and imaginative fusion of classic features from the period. A beautiful decor with unique architectural details include custom drapery, solid oak floors, a marble fireplace and hearth with a multi-fuel inset stove. The original double chapel doors invite guests through a paneled vestibule to the inviting dining hall.
Stairs lead from the dining room up to the drawing room area with unsurpassed River Fowey views. From the drawing room with towering ceilings and exposed beams, guests enjoy dramatic views of the River Fowey.
As a decorative feature, the original chapel organ can be found repositioned on the rear wall. The drawing room features Sky TV, VHS video, and DVD player. From here there is access, via French doors, to the terraced garden and relaxing river views.
Enjoy watching the boats glide by while you take in the long Cornish evenings. The secluded south facing terrace provides ample seating for alfresco summer barbeques and sunset cocktails.
Next to the dining hall, the kitchen and breakfast room include custom designed beech and granite work surfaces. Filled with all possible appliances to make meal prep and service an ease, the kitchen also includes top of the line Rangemaster oven, microwave, convection oven, dishwasher and refrigerator & freezer.
Next to the kitchen there is a utility and laundry room with a slate flagged floor, cupboards, tiled work surfaces and new LG washer and dryer, wall mounted Honeywell thermostat heating and hot water controls.
An uncompromising pursuit of excellence encompasses every aspect of the Grade II listed Sunday House; from the sourcing of period hardware and reproduction balustrades, to the installation of an industrial specification hot water and heating system, to the hand chosen high thread-count imported linens.
The original double entrance chapel doors take you through panelled vestibule and to the delights of the dining hall.

For intimate meals by the open fire there is a wooden dining table with seating for eight.

The master double bedroom suite opens to the moon and features a huge, 5' antique king size French bed and a romantic en suite bathroom with a period free-standing, roll top, clawfoot bath.
Situated on the ground floor are two uniquely appointed bedrooms; both with ensuite bathrooms.
Each bedroom features a unique design; one with a fabulous four-poster king sized bed and the other a double unique wrapped iron bed.
Bedroom four has been decorated with a nautical theme and created with children in mind. There are three single beds and a separate half bathroom, plus a flat screen TV with built in DVD player and games.

Golant has around 110 dwellings with a population of circa 220 people and a 13th century Parish Church dedicated to St Sampson.
The Saints Way Path is located in the village of Golant which provides spectacular scenery for walks along the River Fowey and all the coastal paths. Golant offers wonderful opportunities for sailing, boating, walking, hiking and nature enthusiasts. Fowey with its unspoilt narrow streets offering a variety of unique shops, quality boutiques, delightful galleries, inns and restaurants, as well as sailing and fishing. Boat hire is available in Fowey. Fowey is also mecca for yachting, it has a natural harbour and is a haven for sailing; river trips depart daily. There are plenty of pubs and restaurants to suit all tastes, and ferries link Fowey to Polruan & Bodinnick. The famous Daphne du Maurier Festival of Arts & Literature is held every May and features various events and artists. Fowey Regatta & Carnival week is held in August and there is plenty of fun and entertainment for all the family.
Lostwithiel lies at the end of the Fowey valley and was Cornwall's capital town back in the 13th Century. Home to several good restaurants and the heart of Cornwall's antique industry, is a short drive and can also be reached by boat. Renowed for its variety of antique shops, old buildings and tudor bridge. It hosts regular auctions and antiques fairs.
Restormel Castle The 12th Century castle, originally built by the Normans, lies to the north of Lostwithiel town. The grounds are ideal for picnics with splendid views across wooded valleys.
Charlestown has an attractive Georgian harbour with lock gate. The village is the home of several square rigged sailing ships which can often be seen in the harbour. It is a well known location for filming all over the world. The Shipwreck and Heritage Centre offers visitors a fascinating insight into the history of Charlestown and shipwrecks.
Mevagissey is an attractive 15th Century fishing village with its own small working harbour. It has pretty tiny streets; you can browse the gift shops and there are many restaurants serving local fish dishes. There is the Fowey to Mevagissey Ferry that takes about 45 minutes.
Looe is a busy Cornish fishing port and still operates a fish auction market weekdays. It also has a beach and is popular for crabbing, or you can meander through the streets and visit the gift shops.
Polperro is a gem with its quaint narrow streets and busy harbour for boat trips, and has a small beach at low tide. You can take a ride to and from the car park by horse drawn carriage to save on the walking.
The Lost Gardens of Heligan Once lost for 75 years under bramble and ivy this has been restored to one of the top gardens in Cornwall - well worth a visit and also has an excellent farm shop of local produce. Lanhydrock House near Bodmin A National Trust property dating from the 17th Century. A Victorian country house set in woods and parkland. The garden is renowned for its beautiful Magnolias, Rhododendrons and Camellias.
Pencarrow House & Gardens A magnificent historic Georgian manor house with charm and character for you to visit. Pencarrow House, Peacock Cafe and Gift & Plant Shop. Just a snapshot of what there is to see in the 50 acres of gardens! The garden incorporates pools within the dammed stream, a bridge to the far bank and imaginative planting of grasses and shrubs which sway with the breeze coming from the lake.
Padstow & Rock on the north coast is very popular with cyclists who ride along the Camel trail from Wadebridge, following the estuary with abundant wildlife and wonderful scenery and, of course, you can dine in the famous Rick Stein restaurant.
